The first snow is a good moment to check your kit, and a bad one to discover prices. Refurbished winter gear brings quality equipment within easier reach. Refurbished means a pre-owned item has been checked by experts, cleaned, repaired where needed and sold again with a warranty. At the moment the range centres on skis from well-known names such as Atomic, Blizzard, Dynastar, Elan and Fischer.

  • Save up to 40% vs new: winter sports are costly enough before the lift pass.
  • Min 12-month warranty: it covers you through the season and beyond.
  • 30-day free trial: check size and feel before you commit.
  • Free returns and delivery included: useful for long, bulky items.
  • Refurbished by experts: each item is checked before it is sold.

Who winter gear is for

  • Holiday skiers: one trip a year, and no wish to pay full price for a pair that stays in the cellar the rest of the time.
  • Improving intermediates: moving up from rentals to your own skis.
  • Racers and club skiers: performance models such as the Atomic Redster or the Head Worldcup Rebels line.
  • Families: gear for growing skiers and for parents who want something reliable.

How to choose winter gear

Start with the type of skiing

Piste carving, all-round touring of the mountain and racing-inspired skiing call for different designs. Look at the model name and the description in the listing to see what a ski is built for.

Length and level

Ski length is usually matched to your height and ability. Beginners often prefer something a little shorter and more forgiving, while confident skiers may want more length and stability.

Model year

Names such as Elan Ace SCX or Salomon Addikt come in different seasons. Older model years can be a sensible way to save, while recent ones may suit if you want the latest design.

Bindings and extras

Check in the listing what is included, and confirm that bindings and boots are compatible before you order.

Condition

Each listing describes the item’s condition, so you know what to expect. Every item is checked by experts and comes with the min. 12-month warranty.

Brands and models

Atomic, Blizzard, Dynastar, Elan and Fischer feature heavily, alongside models from Salomon, Head, Nordica and Völkl. Examples include the Elan Element 78 RS, the Dynastar Team Speedzone, the Fischer RC4 Superior TI and the Nordica Spitfire 74 Pro. The selection changes through the season.

Refurbished vs new

Save up to 40% vs new on equipment that does the same job on the slopes. It is also more sustainable vs new: a refurbished pair of skis is a second life for an existing product, and fewer new ones need to be made.

Refurbished vs second hand

Ski gear from a private seller is hard to judge: you often cannot see how it has been used, and there is no warranty. Refurbished gear has been checked by experts, the condition is described, and it comes with a min. 12-month warranty and a 30-day free trial.
